Thousands of years of history and an enchanting location, overlooking one of the most beautiful coastlines in Italy, have made Ravello, the City of Music, one of the most sought-after destinations on the Coast. Let your private guide lead you to discover the stories that are hidden among the ancient stone-paved alleys and the majestic villas surrounded by magnificent gardens. Villa Rufolo, overlooking Piazza Vescovado, was built in the thirteenth century by a family of merchants: it was one of the largest and most expensive villas on the Coast and many legends were nurtured about a treasure hidden inside. During the 1800s the villa, by then abandoned and in ruins, was purchased by a Scottish botanist, Sir Francis Neville Reid, who took care of the requalification and renovation. A few years later Richard Wagner fell in love with the Villa and its gardens and decided to move to Ravello to find the inspiration for the second act of his Parsifal. Wagner's spirit still lives on in Villa Rufolo, home of the prestigious Ravello Festival, held every summer on a stage built overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and dedicated to classical and instrumental music. With a walk of about twenty minutes you reach the beautiful Villa Cimbrone, known worldwide for its view of infinity: you will be amazed by the beautiful garden, which hosts outside from all over the world, and hidden corners where you can enjoy the most enchanting views of the Coast. At the end of the visit is the time to walk to a historic house overlooking the Coast: here the owner's family will welcome you for a tasting of different types of local olive oils and a lunch of typical products grown right there along the Coast.
